Welcome to Friends and Neighbors, Inc.

The number of children who meet the technical definition of "homeless" in area schools has increased over the last five years. During the 2015 school year, there were over 288 children from homeless families enrolled in the Kingsport City School System. These families were sleeping in cars, living in motels, or living as "ghost tenants" with friends or relatives in public housing.

In 2011, a group of concerned individuals decided to pool their resources and help these children and their families achieve a more stable home environment by moving into affordable, single family homes. Friends and Neighbors, Inc., is a non-profit organization made up of individuals who contribute their time, talent or funds to help these families obtain affordable housing, and become productive members of society.

It is simply unacceptable for individuals, children, and families to be faced with homelessness in this country. No one should experience homelessness. No one should be without a safe, stable place to call home.
